Interview with the authors
1. Please tell us about yourself.
Geoff & Jasmine Gibbs. Married since 2003, together in love and life since 1998.
We are bivocational pastors and church planters; Geoff is an engineer, and Jasmine is a therapist with a background in social work.
2. Tell us about your book and who your book is for?
21 to One(ness) is a twenty-one day devotional written to encourage married couples and those in preparation for marriage who desire to build lasting love and unity in their marriage. This devotional guides readers through a journey intended to reveal the critical aspects of loving marriages and provide strengthening in those areas. Each day, readers are presented with a topic that is common in marriage, a transparent discussion of the challenges common to couples on that topic, and a biblical truth that guides couples towards success in addressing these areas in their marriage. The topical discussion is coupled with daily Reflective Application questions, which serve to help readers apply the truth to their lives in relevant ways.
3. What are the top three takeaways you would like your readers to walk away with?
The perfect marriage does not exist, but a healthy and loving marriage that is perfect for you can.
You are not alone. There are aspects of marriage that are common to many, and with the right support and help, you can overcome even the most difficult of times.
Give each other and the relationship grace to grow, evolve, and change.
4. What inspired you to write your book?
In 2018, we celebrated our 15 year wedding anniversary and wanted to share our hearts regarding what we had learned. To document the lessons, we decided to shoot one video a day to share. These videos eventually turned into the 21-day devotional we are excited to share.
5. Tell us a little bit about your writing process. Do you use a unique method? What did the beginning stages entail for you?
Our method was unique in that we began with transcribing videos we had created to pull together the topics in our devotional. Then we identified the main points and key takeaways from each video to build the concepts addressed in each chapter.
6. In terms of publishing, what was that process like for you? And why did you choose BTBM?
Our process was smooth mainly because BTBM was extremely patient with us as writers. We are both bivocational pastors, so we had to fit writing into an already busy schedule. The BTBM team was able to extend deadlines and offer support when needed in order to ensure we had the space to write while not compromising literary quality.
We chose BTBM mainly because of Chanel. She was encouraging and committed to us getting through the writing process. She had a vision for our book that made it feasible for us to begin writing something we felt could help couples. Her dedication to the author’s ideas, coupled with her standardized process, made this a critical choice in publishing this work.
7. What advice would you give to authors or even entrepreneurs wanting to start or those in the process of writing a book?
Just get started. Do not wait for the perfect time to begin, or it will never come. Additionally, don’t get stuck in the details; just get the concepts out on paper. BTBM has a standardized process that will fill in all the blanks needed.
8. Where can people find your book and support you?
Our book 21 to Oneness is available on Amazon and on our social media pages.
9. What is next for you and your brand? What can we look forward to in the coming months or years?
We’re hoping to produce more content for couples in the form of books, retreats, videos, and more devotionals that breathe hope into marriages in ways that honor God.
