Cheryl recently published her first book “Suicide Hurts”, and we got the chance to sit with her and ask a few questions about her book, the writing and publishing process, and why she chose Beyond The Book Media to help her along the journey. BTBM: Please tell us about yourself.
Cheryl: My name is Dr. Cheryl Kelly-Walls. I’m married with 1 daughter and 3 bonus children. I’m an Assistant Principal in a metro county. I love to travel and watch movies. I love learning new things and sharing.
BTBM: Tell us about your book and who your book is for?
Cheryl: My book is about the different experiences my immediate family went through after losing my brother to suicide. This book is for anyone who knows of someone that is contemplating suicide, or going through the death of someone that has committed suicide.
BTBM: What are the top three takeaways you would like your readers to walk away with?
Cheryl: 1. Care about the person that is contemplating. Understand they need your full attention care and concern. 2. Seek help- Don’t be afraid to 3. Dial 988 to quickly access the crisis hotline.
BTBM: What inspired you to write your book?
Cheryl: This book came on the heels of COVID-19 and me needing an outlet to talk. I found myself spiritually failing and spiraling out of control in my mind.
BTBM: Tell us a little bit about your writing process. Do you use a unique method? What did the beginning stages entail for you?
Cheryl: I began writing my feelings down with no organization. My unique method was that I had to travel out of town to Florida to write.
BTBM: In terms of publishing, what was that process like for you? And why did you choose BTBM?
Cheryl: The publishing process was good. I chose BTBM because my sorority sister suggested the company. A
BTBM: What advice would you give to authors or even entrepreneurs wanting to start or those in the process of writing a book?
Cheryl: Stay focused. If it’s In your heart and mind to write, then by all means to.

BTBM: What is next for you and your brand? What can we look forward to in the coming months or years?
Cheryl: Another book for sure, but maybe a children’s book.
