Meet Author Elydia P. Ketchens
Please tell us about yourself.
Elydia P. Ketchens is a Senior Juvenile Probation Officer, Transformation Coach, Author, Serial Entrepreneur, and divorced mother of four.
Raised in the home with a mother who is a Master level educator and a father who was a pastor, it’s no surprise that Elydia excelled in higher education and acquired a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Juvenile Justice. She serves on various boards and committees as an advocate for the education of young children and Juvenile Justice reform efforts.
She is a “catalyst” for change. Her mission as a probation officer and coach is to ensure those she encounters are forever transformed, for the greater. Elydia assists young adults in transforming the way they see themselves and their situations and mentors college interns and women who are called to live a life unmasked and authentic in Christ.
As an author, she has coached several women in telling their stories through literature and was the recipient of “Beyond the Book Media’s 2019 People’s Choice Award”. Sharing her journey to peace and healing after divorce, as an author in the recent anthology project “Suddenly Single Divorced Mom’s 30 Day Devotional”, is just another way Elydia is attempting to help families move beyond trauma to a place of restoration.
Are you a brand or business owner? If so can you tell us about the products and services you offer?

I offer Clarity Sessions, 1:1 Coaching Sessions, Group mentorship, Masterclasses, and Courses. As a serial entrepreneur, I own businesses that cater to young girls ages 4-17 and divorced and single mothers that build self-confidence and encourage self-care.
How has writing a book helped your business or brand?
Writing a book lets people know who I am, what I offer, and how I can help them. It connects me to my audience on a greater scale. It creates opportunities for speaking engagements; networking; increased visibility on various platforms and affords the opportunity to create courses and other companion products to promote my business and brand.

Prayer Closet: A Mother’s Prayers For Our Children is one mother’s answer to the issues and concerns our children face today. It presents tools and specific principles needed to pray boldly and with authority. In the book, Elydia shares personal stories, prayers, and experiences as a mother and mistakes she made in her own journey as a child. This book will guide you through the journey to a better relationship with God and your children, through prayer.
What inspired you to write your book?
God gave me the mandate to write this book in the midst of Write With Me’s first Writing Cohort in February 2019. My late maternal grandparents, parents, and children inspired me to push through adversity to complete this book. My grandmother played an influential role in my prayer life and teaching me how to cover my children in prayer. Writing the book was God preparing myself to share the power of prayer with other mothers during a prevalent and pivotal time such as this.
